East End Tortola  -  places to go for food, fun and relaxation

It's your reason for being here, so where you can find  food, fun and relaxation, is of prime importance and we hope you're not going to be disappointed, wherever you go in the BVI. However some of the key spots are right here in the east end of Tortola.
Check out these beaches, Josiah's Bay, Elizabeth Beach (Lambert Bay) and Long Bay Beef Island, as picturesque as you will find anywhere in the Caribbean.

Josiah's Bay is a seasonal beach, perhaps not always suitable for swimming ,wading and snorkelling during the peak tourist months of December to March, but it does offer the surfers a great opportunity to sharpen their skills during these months. The beach bar has a limited supply of surf boards to rent for those who want to give it a try. However to just park yourself on the beach and take in the sun and relax with a good book and a cool drink from the Grapetree Beach Bar or from your own cooler, well! what else can you ask for, while your freinds and fellow workers fight the cold winter back home? During the other 8 months the Atlantic swells subside and give the bathers a chance to test the warm ocean waters, here at Josiah's Bay.
Naomi and her equally friendly staff at the Grapetree Beach Bar are there to serve up some tempting local morsels for those hungry tummies and mix up some exotic drinks to quench the thirstiest palates. Ask Naomi about preparing you a custom dinner under starlight for those romantic moments that you have been anticipating for so long.
Elizabeth Beach or the beach at Lambert Bay is what you dream of , with its profusion of palms waving gently over the turquoise blue water and white beach sands, that you have seen in so many films and glossy brochures. Again the waves can be very rough during the winter months but the sea  calms considerably during the other seasons. Lambert Bay Resort Restaurant is there to serve you drinks , lunch or dinner.

Long Bay, Beef Island is a more sheltered and protected beach and normally is more friendly to the swimmer and snorkeller , the year round. A very interesting snorkel trail is marked out at the west end of the beach. This beach offer a great deal of privacy during the weekdays but sometime is quite crowded on Sundays or on statutary holidays when the local groups serve up picnics to families.
Discriminating diners will have a heyday at the growing number of eating establishments in the east end of Tortola.
The Tamarind Club serves 3 meals a day, seven days a week and "WOW!" what a feast of fine food. They offer a continuously changing dinner menu from day to day, making this class restaurant, a favourite, not only to the island visitors ,but to year round residents as well. While you wait for lunch to be served or after lunch, take a cool dip in the magnificent Tamarind Club Pool, and even have refreshments at the swim-up bar.
The Tamarind Club will be closed for August and September 2005.
  The
Eclipse awaits your arrival with an equally fabulous restaurant, located at Penn,s Landing on Fat Hog's Bay. The Eclipse is also becoming a favourite for the year round residents and island visitors alike.
The newest "kid on the block" is Fat Hog Bob's situated on the shore of Maya Cove. This well -designed establishment caters to the hungry with "pig-out" portions of ribs, lobster and a variety of finger foods and regular fare. As you enter you will see the smiling well-fed patrons wobble out. It's a must for all visitors to these islands.

Marina Cay is the island featured in Robb White's book and later film "Two on an Isle". This small island hosts a Pusser's store and restaurant and small hotel. You can ride over free on Pusser's launch from the government dock at Trellis Bay, at various times throughout the day. It's a great place to spend a day and a favourite for snorkellers.
The Last Resort hosts a restaurant and is owned and operated by Jessica Snell and  offers "LIVE" entertainment. Her father Tony, a hilarious comic, still entertains occasionally, after the dinner buffet. This establishment sits on a tiny island, Bellamy Cay, in Trellis Bay just off the airport runway and you will be ferried over there in the Last Resort's private boat.
Harbour View Restaurant, another "new kid on the block", having  opened in June, 2000 is making the East End extremely competitive as to what is the best fare. Chef Dorothea brings her gourmet talents to the fore in this beautiful new facility at the Wheatley Marina, home base in the BVI for Tradewinds Charters

De Loose Mongoose situated on the shore of Trellis Bay, Beef Island is another favourite place for land and sea visitors. Lots of friendly people for happy hour! During high season there is usually live entertainment on Sunday evenings.
